Down to Earth Healing for the Body (including the mouth!)
A Real and Available Experience.
We often use the words ‘down to earth’ to describe a person who is real or authentic. We say that someone is down to earth to denote that they are not flighty or up in the clouds which would be its opposite. We might also say that someone is well grounded or has both feet on the ground.
In modern spiritual language, grounding is a practice vital to wellbeing and nearly all meditative and relaxation techniques begin with and end with a ‘grounding’ phase where we reconnect to the earth and ourselves. This is necessary because modern life seems to constantly keep us in our minds with thinking, planning and learning on one hand and analyzing and worrying and ruminating on the other.
In this way, we have become disconnected from each other and the environment that we live in. We often find the benefit of going for a walk in the woods or on the beach and feel more connected and better as a result. We might be given the advice to reconnect with nature as part of a way to better health. We also know that the barefoot walk on the beach does us good.
Why does this feel good to us? How does it improve our mood and wellbeing?
Very simply, we are a product of our environment and so disconnecting from it disconnects us from our source and that causes to feel lost and away from home. When we say ‘connect with nature’ we should really say connect with yourself because we are nature! We are not separate from nature as the modern world has causes us to feel.
Going out in nature feels good because its like coming home to our own true nature. This is not just ‘a nice thing’ to do. It is essential to health and wellbeing because we have electromagnetic energetic bodies which are part of an electromagnetic planet.
This is a reality. It is a real experience of our inherent reality and that why it feels so good and so refreshing to be in nature. We intuitively know our own reality as part of the planetary environment.
So what is really going on between nature and ourselves when we connect?
There is a very physical and scientifically verifiable reason why we feel better when we connect in this way.
The Earth is a massive reservoir of negatively charged free electrons. Without a connection to this reservoir, the cells in our body are unable to balance the positive charge that results from things like electron-deficient free radicals that are known markers for disease. The effect of this is well documented in scientific research and we are attempting to balance this with foods and clean waters that are rich in free electrons.
